The first Capital Town, Trivandrum!

    The first Capital Town, Trivandrum!

Trivandrum is a great  Capital.  It is a near sea side town. The  coastal town of Vizhinjam is close by. The capital has the Legislative Assembly and the famous SriPadmanabha Swamy Temple is in it.  The reason for my being there was to attend a written test at the University College which had been established at the time of the British and still carried a lot of elan and architectural beauty.  It was a serene place to be in.

It was a written test for work in the Central Government. The city was very clean and neat.  Most of the people there are Kerala State Government officials or employees and connected other workers apart from the usual businesses and utility services.  The transport facilities are by State Government Bus and train.  I selected the bus as I was a bus enthusiast.  The day before I started after an early lunch and had a good sleep to reach Trivandrum by the evening.  I booked a room for the night in a small motel.  There are many hotels and motels in Trivandrum as this has grown up as an industry there.   Many people come with Government business or to submit grievances.  Many people come to work in the Kerala Secretariat too.  All these people may require space to live and this area is filled up by many people there by creating hotels and motels and await people to occupy them.  This is a facility available in Trivandrum only compared to other cities., the Capital Trivandrum being at one extreme corner of the State.

The next day I got two three friends who had come for the same examination.  All of us walked to the University College and settled in the grass meadows there to read and recapitulate on the subject to write.  We had a written test in English and one in General Knowledge.   It was understood that this is a prelude to another practical test in Shorthand and Typewriting at a later stage.  we were to await for the result and new hall ticket for the next test.  We enjoyed the time in the company of other candidates and all of us read for the test until the bell went to go in to the classes according to our Roll Numbers.  The class rooms were super and the test was a  normal one.
